Responsibilities

Oversee the garbage and recycling collection franchise agreements for most of the unincorporated areas
Oversee land use permits for waste processing and disposal facilities located in unincorporated areas and process related permit amendments, including the "Application (LP082026) to Amend Land Use Permit 2020-89 Conditions of Approval for the Keller Canyon Landfill"
Develop and implement waste reduction and recycling programs within unincorporated areas, such as the Environmental Action Program for Schools and Recycling Market Development Zone
Operate the County Recycling Hotline which provides businesses and residents with the information on where items can be reused or recycled over the phone or on-line
Develop and maintain the Contra Costa Reuse & Recycling Guide
Assist with implementation of the County's climate protection efforts
