Contra Costa County Hazards Mitigation Plan Update Available for Public Review
Comment period runs from May 17 through June 14
Contra Costa County invites citizens to review and comment on the recently updated Contra Costa County Hazards Mitigation Plan (CCCHMP). There will be two convenient ways for the public to provide input.
First, the CCCHMP will be available on the County’s website (http://www.co.contra-costa.ca.us/index.aspx?nid=2302 ) with space available for your comments and/or suggestions. Secondly, the public will have an opportunity to provide verbal comment when the draft plan is presented to the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors on June 28, 2011 and the San Ramon City Council on June 28, 2011. The Public is encouraged to utilize the website as the principal means of providing comment due to the size and comprehensive scope of the plan. To review Volume 1 (click here) and Volume 2 (click here) of the CCCHMP.
Upon its approval by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the CCCHMP will serve as a coordinating document for the risk reduction efforts of 13 municipalities and 26 special purpose districts for the next five years. It includes an assessment of the county’s risks from naturally occurring events and includes a list of proposed initiatives designed to minimize future natural hazard-related damage.
The public comment period begins on May 17th and ends at 5:00 p.m. on June 14th. Please direct your comments and questions on the CCCHMP to Susan Roseberry, Senior Emergency Planner, Contra Costa County Office of Emergency Services, .
