Research shows that people of lower economic backgrounds suffer from worse health outcomes than higher income people, often referred to as health disparities. Contra Costa County is committed to ending these inequities, and to giving all residents an equal chance at good health, regardless of their racial, cultural, or economic backgrounds. The Board of Supervisors approved the Contra Costa Health Disparities Initiative, which lays the groundwork for this commitment. Supervisor Gioia is a major proponent of this plan.
