IRON HORSE CORRIDOR MANAGEMENT PROGRAM ADVISORY COMMITTEE Updated
August 2006 The Iron Horse Corridor Management
Program Advisory Committee assists Contra Costa County in improving
and managing the 18-mile Iron Horse Corridor, including the Iron Horse
Trail. The Iron Horse Corridor formerly was part of the
Southern Pacific Railroad’s San Ramon Branch Line right-of-way.
With assistance from a state grant, Contra Costa County
acquired 18 miles of the right-of-way extending from Mayette Avenue in
Concord to the Alameda County line.
The Board of Supervisors in 1997 created the Iron Horse
Corridor Management Program Advisory Committee to assist the County in
improving and maintaining the corridor.
The District 3 and District 4 Supervisors appoint the committee
members, because the corridor is located in those districts.
The Board’s 1997 action called for the Committee to assist
the County in the following activities:
Committee members include Lesley
Hunt (Chair), Walnut Creek; Dave Hudson, San Ramon; Tom Crosby, Danville; Dennis Donaghu, Pleasant
Hill; Stanley
Hansen, District 4 (Vice-Chair); and Al Olivera, East Bay Regional Park District. The Committee meets at least quarterly, and more frequently when needed. At the end of each meeting, the next meeting date is determined. For more information about the Committee, please contact John Greitzer of the Contra Costa County Community Development Department at (925) 335-1201. He can be reached by e-mail at jgrei@cd.cccounty.us.
