Contra Costa County annually holds special recognition events sponsored by the Board of Supervisors.
In January, we begin with the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Commemoration. On January 17th of this year, we paid tribute to to our Humanitarian of the Year, Jim Noe, and Student Humanitarian of the Year, Paige Godvin. The Honorable Diana Becton served as our keynote speaker, and there was entertainment from award winning composer and singer Terrance Kelly. Find out more on our Dr. King Celebration website.
In March, we recognize the leadership of farm worker and labor leader Cesar Chavez. In 2017, the tribute will take place on Tuesday, March 28.
In November, we pause to thank our veterans for their service. The 2017 ceremony will take place on Tuesday, November 7.
