2017 CalPERS Open Enrollment

CalPERS Medical Plan Open Enrollment period is from Monday, September 12, 2016 through Friday, October 7, 2016 for Active and Retiree/Survivors. Plan changes are effective January 1, 2017.

NOTE:
Open Enrollment for other benefits (Dental, Life, Health Care and Dependent Care) will be announced at a future date.

Rate information was mailed by Contra Costa County in early September, 2016.

CalPERS will no longer be offering Blue Shield NetValue as of December 31, 2016. In order to mitigate member-provider disruption, existing NetValue members that do not affirmatively elect an alternative plan during the 2017 Open Enrollment will be automatically enrolled into Blue Shield Access Plus (Blue Shield & Blue Shield Advantage).

Active Employee


Be sure to read the information from the county as it includes information that supplements the correspondence received from CalPERS.  Information from the County includes a Benefit Statement listing the CalPERS health plan and other benefits you receive as an employee of Contra Costa County.  Be sure to compare health plan information on this benefit statement to the benefit statement you received from CalPERS.

If making changes, please submit the Open Enrollment change form(s) to Employee Benefits no later than 5:00 p.m., Friday, October 7, 2016 at 651 Pine Street, 5th Floor, Martinez, CA  94553. Change form(s) are two pages; you are required to initial and date the first page in addition to completing sections 1 through 21 on the form.  CALPERS HBD-12 & HBD- 12A forms are available for use by active employees only.

2017 Other Programs

The Open Enrollment period for other benefit programs with Contra Costa County such as dental plans, Health Care Spending Account (HCSA), Dependent Care Assistance Program (DCAP) and the Premium Conversion Plan will be at a future date to be determined.

Retiree / Survivor


Retirees and Survivors may make changes to their health plan by any of the following ways:

  • at my.calpers.ca.gov; or
  • request a change in writing and mailing the request to CalPERS Health Account Services, P. O. Box 942715, Sacramento, CA  94229-2715; or
  • Calling toll free at 888 CalPERS (or 888-225-7377)
NOTE:

Contra Costa County requests that our office be notified of any changes to insure that our records are current and that the correct deduction is made from retiree pension check.  Please call (925) 335-1746 with any changes.
