Doing Business with the County

Thank you for your interest in doing business with Contra Costa County. Each year, the County procures over 125 million dollars in equipment, products, and supplies through the Purchasing Division. Purchasing works closely with County departments to procure the goods and services they need. Information provided here is intended to familiarize you with our procedures and business opportunity programs. Please contact us if additional information or assistance is needed.

Getting Started

Purchasing Services is the place to start to identify business opportunities available for your business. We are open to responsible vendors who supply goods and services that are competitive, reliable, and meet the County's needs.

Rules governing purchasing and contract procedures were established under the concept of open competitive bidding. Under this system, awards are made to the lowest responsible bidder who meets the published specifications, possess the capability to deliver the requested product or service, and offers the best value to the County.

Vendors must register with Purchasing Services using the Purchasing Portal website. Completing registration provides us with your contact information, and the type of work conducted by your firm. It also identifies your eligibility for business opportunity programs. Instructions for completing registration can be found on the Vendor Registration & Maintenance page.
